Downtown Jefferson City is a working downtown that happens to sit beneath a state capitol. High Street carries a run of narrow storefronts with the kind of upper-floor detail nobody builds any more — stone sills, pressed cornices, tall parapets — and a few blocks east and south the streets turn residential, with brick and frame houses that have stood through every version of this town. It is the densest, oldest, most architecturally interesting square mile we work in, and it is five minutes from our door.
Old buildings are precisely where a hired crew earns the money. Original masonry, painted wood cornices and century-old guttering should never meet a staple or a screw. We hang commercial-grade LED on clips chosen for the surface, cut every run to the building’s own measurement rather than to a spool length, and take the whole installation down in January as carefully as it went up — no forgotten clips left on a parapet through July.

A lit facade downtown works for every person walking to lunch, every car headed up to the Capitol and every evening event on the calendar. We outline parapets and entries, dress awning lines and window frames, and put the whole display on a timer so it runs itself.
Commercial work is scheduled around your hours — early mornings, evenings or a slow weekday — and the sidewalk is swept and clear before we pull away.
Downtown houses
The residential blocks near the Capitol hold steep gables, tall porches and a lot of original trim. Those are quoted honestly: taller ladders and slower, more careful work cost more, and the number on the page says so before we start rather than after.
Narrow lots and street parking are normal here. We plan the ladder positions on the walk-through so install day is short and nobody’s driveway is blocked.
Booking downtown for the season
Downtown addresses are the easiest stops on our map, which is exactly why they fill early — we group them so a crew can work several buildings in a morning. Call in summer or early fall and you pick your install week; call in late November and you take what is left. The quote itself is free and obligates you to nothing.
One thing worth saying plainly: we are a private lighting company. We are not affiliated with the state, the city or any downtown organization, and we do not have anything to do with the public displays. We light the buildings people ask us to light.
Questions we get downtown
Can you work without closing the sidewalk?
Almost always, yes. Most downtown frontages are reachable from a ladder set close to the wall, with a spotter keeping the walkway clear. If a building genuinely needs a lift, we say so in the quote and arrange it properly rather than improvising on the day.
Will anything be screwed into the building?
No. No staples, no screws, no nails and no holes. Clips are matched to the surface — gutter, shingle, brick edge, parapet cap — and they come off in January leaving the facade the way we found it.
Who is actually on the ladder?
Our own insured crew, carrying both liability and workers’ compensation. Nothing is subcontracted out, and we are happy to hand over the certificates before a boot touches a rung.
