Hermann is one of the most intact nineteenth-century towns in Missouri — brick built by German settlers on the bluffs above the river, with a main street and a residential grid that have barely changed shape in a century and a half. The wineries bring visitors through in every season, and December is no exception. This is a town where the buildings are the attraction, and lighting them badly would be a genuine shame.
Old brick needs warm light. Cool white turns a hundred-and-fifty-year-old facade grey; a single warm colour temperature along the original lines makes it look like what it is. Everything goes up on clips fitted to the surface, weight carried on the gutter edge, and nothing is fastened into original wood, stone or brick. Takedown in January is done with the same care.

Steep pitches, dormers and porches with original woodwork are normal here. We measure on site, cut each line to the building, and quote taller and slower work honestly up front.
Houses on the bluff side read from a long way off. A restrained display up there carries further than an elaborate one down in the flat.
Main Street & Wineries
Hermann trades on how it looks, and lit frontage in December earns its keep. Facades, entries and awning lines in warm white, on timers, maintained through the season so the street is lit every evening visitors are in town.
Commercial work is scheduled around trading hours and taken down promptly in January.
