Rolla sits an hour south of our Jefferson City base on Highway 63, where the ground starts breaking into the hills that give this part of the state its character. It is a university town with a settled population around it — Missouri S&T on one side, established residential blocks on the other, and a business strip that runs busy right through December. The housing is a genuine mix: older brick and frame homes near the centre, ranches on the sloping streets, and newer building spreading out toward the edges.
Hill ground changes a lighting design.
